October Special Offering Part 1: Brite Divinity School

Washington Avenue Christian Church,

The Brite community greets you with gratitude and shared concern for our world. These times are like none we have ever known, and yet the Spirit of God lingers among us with comfort and conviction to be and do more. People are hurting. The breaches in humanity of poverty and individualism are death-dealing. If we call ourselves Disciples, it is imperative we bring life-giving care wherever need confronts us. At Brite, we celebrate the life your generosity has helped bring to our student community.

Every institution has its own unique gifts. The people, their stories, ministries, hopes and aspirations, all create something special that cannot be matched elsewhere. Brite Divinity School is set apart in the learning space it provides. Many who know the pain of marginalization come to Brite and find safety. They experience an affirmation that opens pathways to leadership in churches and communities across this country. Leaders like your pastor and numerous others can attest to the exceptional formation they have received at Brite Divinity School. Our students need and deserve support, especially now. The pandemic and winter storm crisis brought hardship to our community. Still, many of those affected have muscled their way back to the table this fall with hope and faith to complete their coursework.

We are grateful to be on the mind of Washington Avenue Christian Church. Our students appreciate every scholarship gift that is given from the heart of your congregation. There are opportunities all around to make a difference, but there is no place like Brite. Thank you for all you do to “worship, work, and witness in the city of Elyria, Ohio” and beyond.

Shalom,

Brite Students, Staff, and Faculty
