Christmas Special Offering Helps Make Known God’s Love In Action
Imagine God’s Love Revealed:
Each year the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), through our local congregations and online offerings, receives gifts for the Christmas Special Offering that supports the ministry of the Regional Church. One hundred percent of the gifts will further the mission and ministry of the Christian Church in Ohio. The Regional Church helps make known the love of God as it is lived out throughout the life of the Church throughout God’s world.
The ministries of the Regional Church revealed when we give to this offering include:
• Connecting congregations to each other for mutual support, celebration, and resource-sharing
• Fostering faith formation through spiritual workshops, webinars, retreats, and developing shared resources
• Gathering Disciples in camps, conferences, and assemblies for prayer, play, and discipleship
• Nurturing the development of a new generation of pastors through discernment, mentoring, and connecting them with resources
• Assisting congregations in concluding their time with pastors who are leaving and in calling new ministers
• Supporting pastors as they seek new calls to ministry
• Interpreting the denominational and global mission of the Church to the local congregation, and the local mission of the Church to the denominational and global community
• Representing the Church in ecumenical, interfaith, and non-profit gatherings
• Counseling and praying with those who are troubled of spirit, especially clergy and lay leaders
• Leading the Church to address racism, sexism, homophobia, ableism, and other injustices and inequities in our world
• Inspiring leaders to innovate, experiment, and create new ways of deepening spirituality, furthering justice, and being faithful community
• Witnessing to the power of God to make things new!
When we imagine God’s love revealed and support that love with our energy, wisdom, and financial resources, we can make it real for a new day and for those who have yet to experience the transforming love of Christ.
