CURRENT AND UPCOMING SPECIAL EVENTS:
Earthquake, Flooding and Other Disasters--HOW TO HELP
1. Donate by check (payable to "Washington Avenue Christian Church" with either "Week of Compassion" or a designated disaster area (i.e., "Haiti", "China", "Nashville", etc.)
OR donate online. 2. Assemble Baby Care and/or Hygiene Kits. Baby Care Kit: Six cloth diapers Two t-shirts or undershirts (no onesies) Two washcloths Two gowns or sleepers Two diaper pins One sweater or sweatshirt Two receiving blankets (one can be a hand-knitted or crocheted baby blanket) Hygiene kit (in a gallon-size plastic bag): One hand towel measuring approximately 16" x 28" (no fingertip or bath towels) One washcloth One wide-tooth comb One nail clipper (no metal files or emery boards) One bar of soap (bath size in wrapper) One toothbrush (in original packaging) Six Band-Aids

Camp--General Information
The following applies to all Camp/Conference weeks occurring at Camp Christian throughout the summer of 2010:
Note: A scholarship of 50% of the Early Bird rate is available to all WACC youth who regularly attend Worship, Church School and youth gatherings at WACC.
Completed registration forms and payment are due in to the WACC office TWO WEEKS PRIOR to the start of your selected camp.
Obligatory medical forms will be mailed to each registered camper.
Although Camp Portahoga and Hiram Conference are WACC's District camps, youth who cannot attend their "home" camp are welcome to attend a different camp week in their grade range.
Early Bird Registration (received by May 1): $290
Regular Registration (received after May 1): $320
Late/On-Site Registration (received later than 14 days prior to camp start): $340
Note: For all Junior (Partnership) Camps, add $10 to each fee quoted above.
Registration forms (the same form for all camps, unless otherwise noted) are posted on our main bulletin board, or you may print your own at www.ccinoh.org/camp/applications.aspx.
Registration includes program costs, lodging and meals while at Camp. Campers may want to bring money for fast-food meals on the way to & from Camp (optional).
What to Bring to Camp: Bible, bedding, modest clothing (clothing that hides front and back cleavage, underwear, and mid-sections), modest swimwear and swimsuit cover, musical instrument or talent show props, offering money, and a small amount of snack money for the week (optional).
What to Leave Home: Electronic devices (personal music devices allowed only at bedtime and must be used with earplugs), drugs, alcohol, guns, knives or other weapons, inappropriate language and attitudes, etc.

Summer Church School
Beginning June 13, each Sunday at 9:30 a.m., WACC Elders will take turns leading a one-session,
all-ages class on life issues examined through a Biblical lens.
Childcare will be available for babies and very young children.

August 15 - Global Ministries missionary Alan Dicken will lead a session on missions.

Adventure Camp--Photo Safari of Ohio
Picturing Fruit of the Spirit
(for all ages and photography skill levels; youth younger than grade 9 must attend with a parent/legal guardian)
August 8-14.
Base camp in the cabins of Camp Christian (10299 Maple Dell Rd., Marysville, OH) with daily excursions to other scenic places in Central Ohio, including the
Columbus Zoo and Zoombezi Bay Waterpark, Hocking Hills area and attractions, a walking tour of Downtown Columbus with evening photography of the lit skyline, and the Dawes Arboretum).
We will utilize photos from the week in a Friday night consecration service. In addition, images from the week will be shared with the wider Disciples community for use in their non-profit publications and promotions, worship technology displays, etc.
Award-winning Ohio photographer Jack Acri will be on hand early in the week to share photography tips and digital image-manipulation techniques.

Mission Trip/Pilgrimage to Chile's Shalom Center
January 1-11, 2011
Join the delegation from the Ohio Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) as we visit the Chilean Pentecostal Chuch's version of our own Camp Christian.
The Shalom Center was funded, in part, by outreach funds from Camp Christian's most recent building project ("Keep the Fire Burning") which provided new cabin clusters and the dining hall.
