Earthquakes, Flooding and Other Disasters--HOW TO HELP

1. Donate by check

(payable to "Washington Avenue Christian Church" with either "Week of Compassion" or a designated disaster area (i.e., "Hurricane Irene", "African Horn", "Missouri", "Japan", "Alabama", "Haiti", etc.)
written in the memo line, and mail to WACC, 301 Washington Ave., Elyria, OH 44035)

OR donate online.

2. Assemble Baby Care and/or Hygiene Kits.

Baby Care Kit:

Six cloth diapers

Two t-shirts or undershirts (no onesies)

Two washcloths

Two gowns or sleepers

Two diaper pins

One sweater or sweatshirt

Two receiving blankets (one can be a hand-knitted or crocheted baby blanket)

Hygiene kit (in a gallon-size plastic bag):

One hand towel measuring approximately 16" x 28" (no fingertip or bath towels)

One washcloth

One wide-tooth comb

One nail clipper (no metal files or emery boards)

One bar of soap (bath size in wrapper)

One toothbrush (in original packaging)

CYF Mid-Winter Retreat

Host Families Needed for 100 Youth

Host families are asked to provide breakfast, and transportation to & from Franklin Circle Christian Church, Cleveland.

Background checks mandatory for host families; forms available through the WACC office.

Disciples Cruise to Alaska

May 26-June 2, 2012

Sponsored by the Senior Adult Ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Florida

Cruise on Holland America's ship Westerdam, leaving from Seattle, Washington for a 7-night cruise

through Alaska's Inside Passage. Ports of call include Juneau, Sitka, Ketchikan, Victoria, British Columbia, and Glacier Bay.

Costs range $699-$1,469 (airfare additional).

Bible study and/or worship will be held onboard while at sea.

Men's Ministry Event

"Extreme Faith, Bold Action"

July 13-15

at Bethany College, Bethany, WV.

This gathering of Disciples men from several regions will feature inspirational speakers (Derek Maul and Dr. Frank Thomas)

and work projects (outdoor trail construction, Campbell Mansion repair and work on the Brush Run church site).

Just $175 registration ($100 for men age 35 or younger) if received before May 5. Housing and meals extra.

Camp--General Information

The following applies to all Camp/Conference weeks occurring at Camp Christian throughout the summer:

Note: A scholarship of 50% of the Early Bird rate is available to all WACC youth who regularly attend Worship, Church School and youth gatherings at WACC.

Completed registration forms and payment are due in to the WACC office TWO WEEKS PRIOR to the start of your selected camp.

Obligatory medical forms will be mailed to each registered camper.

Although Camp Portahoga and Hiram Conference are WACC's District camps, youth who cannot attend their "home" camp are welcome to attend a different camp week in their grade range.

NOTE: The fees below reflect 2010 rates and *may* be subject to change.

Early Bird Registration (received by May 1): $290

Regular Registration (received after May 1): $320

Late/On-Site Registration (received later than 14 days prior to camp start): $340

Note: For all Junior (Partnership) Camps, add $10 to each fee quoted above.

Registration forms (the same form for all camps, unless otherwise noted) are posted on our main bulletin board, or you may print your own at www.ccinoh.org/camp/applications.aspx.

Registration includes program costs, lodging and meals while at Camp. Campers may want to bring money for fast-food meals on the way to & from Camp (optional).

What to Bring to Camp: Bible, bedding, modest clothing (clothing that hides front and back cleavage, underwear, and mid-sections), modest swimwear and swimsuit cover, musical instrument or talent show props, offering money, and a small amount of snack money for the week (optional).

What to Leave Home: Electronic devices (personal music devices allowed only at bedtime and must be used with earplugs), drugs, alcohol, guns, knives or other weapons, inappropriate language and attitudes, etc.
